KS4 Religious Studies
At KS4, pupils study in line with the AQA Religious Studies GCSE (Short Course).
Intent:
KS4 RE at TRS aims to foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment where pupils can explore and develop an understanding of different religious and philosophical traditions. Through the study of various beliefs, practices, and moral values, we help pupils to critically analyse, empathize, and appreciate diverse perspectives, promoting tolerance, empathy, and religious literacy.
We aspire to nurture well-rounded individuals who are knowledgeable, empathetic, and respectful of diverse religious and philosophical perspectives. We believe that fostering religious literacy and promoting understanding contributes to a harmonious and inclusive society.
At KS4, Religious Studies at TRS includes:
- • The study of religions: beliefs and teachings – Christianity
- • The study of religions: beliefs and teachings – Islam
- • Religious, philosophical and ethical studies in the modern world: Theme A: Relationships and families
- • Religious, philosophical and ethical studies in the modern world: Theme B: Religion, peace and conflict
Pupils will be challenged with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling them to develop their own values and attitudes towards religious issues.
Pupils will also gain an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. They will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to work with abstract ideas, leadership and research skills. All these will help prepare them for further study.
