KS3 Religious Education

At KS3, pupils study RE in line with the Kent Agreed Syllabus.

We explore big questions about life, in order to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can make sense of religion and worldviews, and reflect on their own ideas and ways of living.

Intent:

KS3 RE at TRS aims to foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment where pupils can explore and develop an understanding of different religious and philosophical traditions. Through the study of various beliefs, practices, and moral values, we help pupils to critically analyse, empathize, and appreciate diverse perspectives, promoting tolerance, empathy, and religious literacy.

During the key stage, pupils are taught knowledge, skills and understanding through learning about Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Buddhists. Pupils also encounter non-religious worldviews such as Humanism, and may encounter other religions and worldviews where appropriate.

Our intent is to provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge and understanding
  • Encourage critical thinking and reflection
  • Promote empathy and understanding
  • Promote moral and ethical development
  • Encourage respect and dialogue

We aspire to nurture well-rounded individuals who are knowledgeable, empathetic, and respectful of diverse religious and philosophical perspectives. We believe that fostering religious literacy and promoting understanding contributes to a harmonious and inclusive society.
